Easy dinner solution

Ordered the Goan Fish Curry kit. Recipe was simple. Flavors were decent. Box fit through the letterbox. Good for a quick meal.

Pretty good for weeknights

So, I gave SimplyCook a go and got their Nasi Goreng kit. It was pretty decent, actually. The instructions were easy enough, and I had most of the other stuff already, so just grabbed a few fresh things. It came through the letterbox which was handy, didn't have to wait around. The flavour was good, like a proper takeaway but I made it myself, ha. I usually just wing it in the kitchen, but this made dinner feel a bit more special without much effort. Might try another one if I see a good offer.

Quick meals, no fuss

Got the jambalaya kit last week and it was actually really good! I just followed the recipe and used stuff I had in the fridge. Super easy to make after work when I'm tired. The box came pretty quick too, and it just popped through the door, no waiting around. I liked that I didn't have to think much about dinner. Definitely made cooking less of a chore.

Good value, easy meals

I got the 4-recipe trial box for just a pound, which was an amazing deal. I tried the chicken katsu curry kit and the balinese chicken curry kit. The flavour pots were really good, and the recipe cards were easy to follow. I just had to buy the fresh ingredients, but that was fine. For the price, it felt totally worth it. I was a bit worried about the subscription model, but canceling seemed straightforward if I needed to. Overall, a practical way to try new dishes without spending too much.

Convenient and tasty kits

I've been using SimplyCook for a few months now and generally really like it. My last order included the Zesty Lemon Chicken, Peri Peri Chicken, and Sweet Potato Curry kits. The instructions are always super clear, and the flavor pots really do elevate a simple home-cooked meal. I appreciate that the boxes fit through my letterbox, so I never miss a delivery. The quality of the flavor blends is consistent, and I haven't had a bad meal yet. What I particularly like is the ability to skip weeks or change my recipes easily through their website; I did have a small issue once logging in, but customer service sorted it out quickly. It helps me try new cuisines without having to buy a ton of spices I'll only use once. My only minor suggestion would be for them to offer a slightly wider range of vegetarian options in every box selection.

Good for variety, but pricey

I tried the 4-recipe trial box, picking the Thai Red Curry, Chicken Katsu, Beef Stroganoff, and Cuban Paella. The flavor pots were definitely unique and made cooking something different pretty easy. The recipes were clear and the food tasted good, though you do have to buy all the fresh ingredients yourself, which adds up. Delivery was on time, and the box fit right through my letterbox, which was handy. My main hang-up is the cost once the trial is over; it feels a bit steep when I'm still sourcing all the meat and veggies. Good concept, but I'd like to see better value for regular subscriptions.

So fun to cook!

Oh my goodness, I just had to share how much I loved my SimplyCook box! I got the Thai Green Curry kit and the Nasi Goreng kit, and they were both absolutely delicious. The flavours were so authentic, and the recipe steps were super clear. It made cooking dinner genuinely exciting, which is saying something for a Tuesday night! I'm already planning my next box. I'm telling all my friends about this, it's such a brilliant idea for busy people who still want to eat well. Can't wait to try more of their kits!

Hey, thinking about trying SimplyCook. Does their 'first box for a quid' deal actually work, or is it one of those things where they tack on a bunch of hidden fees?

C Carly 2 months ago
Nah, it's legit. I got my first one for a pound, shipping included. Just make sure you cancel if you don't want more after that.

L Laura 2 months ago
Yep, can confirm. My referral code gave me a free box too, no extra charges. They're pretty upfront about it.

If I sign up for SimplyCook, how often do they send boxes? Can I change the frequency if I only want one every few weeks?

M Megan Patel 2 months ago
You can totally skip weeks or change the frequency. I think the default is weekly but you can just go into your account and hit 'skip' whenever you want. Super flexible.

Yeah, pretty sure you can skip a delivery or change how often they come. I've done it before when I knew I'd be away.

Thinking of trying SimplyCook but curious how it stacks up against HelloFresh. Anyone tried both and have thoughts?

P Paula Y. 2 months ago
I've done both! SimplyCook is just the flavor pots and recipes, so you buy your own fresh stuff. HelloFresh sends everything. Depends if you like shopping or not, I prefer SimplyCook for less waste tbh.

K Kevin 2 months ago
Yeah, totally different. SimplyCook is way better if you already have a good grocery store routine and just want new ideas. HelloFresh is more for when you want everything done for you.

can you use more than one discount code, like a student one and a referral code at the same time?

T Tara Ito 1 month ago
Nah, pretty sure you can only use one code per order. Most subscription services are like that.

I tried stacking once and it didn't work. You gotta pick the best one for you, usually the new customer offers are the best anyway.

Do these boxes actually fit through a standard letterbox? Live in an apartment and don't want to miss a delivery.

F Faith Y. 1 month ago
Yep, mine always fits no problem. They're pretty slim.

They're designed to be letterbox-friendly, so you shouldn't have an issue. It's one of their main selling points, I think.
